Profile

Trained at Falmouth, then at Goldsmiths under Peter Doig, with work in two public collections.

Benjamin Spiers was born in Plymouth in 1972 and is based in London. He studied at Falmouth University in 1991, then at Goldsmiths in London in 1992, where Peter Doig taught him. His paintings bring a careful, methodical technique to several styles, among them surrealism, abstraction and cubism.

Since 1998 he has shown in London, Liverpool, New York, Stockholm, Shanghai and Puebla. In London he has shown with Saatchi Yates in 2020, 2021 and 2023. The Museu Inimá de Paula in Brazil and the G+ Art Museum in Wuyi City, China, hold his work.
