Educated in Providence and London. Her work is in five public collections.
Pia Camil was born in Mexico City in 1980 and studied in Providence and London. She took her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003. In 2008 she completed her Master of Fine Arts at The Slade School of Fine Art. Her work is drawn to failure, and to the decay linked with the Mexican urban landscape.
Her solo exhibitions run from 2003 to 2025, and take in the New Museum and Nottingham Contemporary. In 2019 the Guggenheim Museum in New York hosted her performance Here Comes The Sun. Five public collections hold her work, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and La Colección Jumex.
