Pavel Dušek

Born 1992. He works across painting, object and installation, in close physical contact with his materials. He layers forms, breaks them apart and puts them back together.

Biography

Trained in Prague. His paintings are installed on buildings in five European cities.

Pavel Dušek was born in 1992 and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He studied there from 2012 to 2018, in Michael Rittstein’s Studio of Painting III. In 2016 he did an internship at ISI Yogyakarta, in Indonesia. He works across painting, object and installation, in close physical contact with his materials.

He builds expressive structures from raw materials, playing with residues, traces and fragments. His paintings are installed on buildings in Athens, Paris, London, Venice and Barcelona. In 2021 he won the Critics’ Prize for Young Painting. In 2023 Radek Wohlmuth curated his solo exhibition In the House at Trafo Gallery in Prague.
